Colombia's international tourism promotion agency has been awarded a prize recognizing its work in enhancing Colombia's image in the U.S., according the Colombian presidential website.

Proexport, a Colombian government agency responsible for, among other things, tourism promotion abroad, has been awarded the Jim Woodman prize by the Tourism Association of Central and South America (SATA), in recognition of its work in promoting Colombian tourism in the U.S.

According to SATA, through supporting and working with tour operators and tourism associations, Proexport has made great efforts to change people's perception of Colombia abroad, and has assisted in the sale of the country as a tourist destination.

Carmenza Jaramillo, director of Proexport's U.S. office, accepted the prize at a ceremony in Miami.
