Bogota embraces 'Africa en Cine'

africa, cine, colombia news, culture, Bogota

Bogota residents have the opportunity to discover the diversity of contemporary African cinema, thanks to 'Africa en Cine', a project which screens free African films every month.

The Panafrican Alliance of Colombia (KONI) joined up with the French Embassy in Colombia and the Colombo-French Alliance in Bogota to bring the monthly event to Bogota in a move to embrace Colombia's African heritage.

Africa produces some 1,200 films a year, touching on themes such as governance, war and AIDS, according to Vive en Cine.

Films are screened the last Wednesday of every month at 6.30pm in the Albert Camus Theatre. This Wednesday 25th November the film Nha Fala by Flora Gomes will be screened.
