Bogota rejects 24-hour parties

Colombia news - party

Bogota will not allow clubs in the capital to keep their doors open 24hours a day, the capital's Secretary of Government announced Wednesday.

According to Secretary of Government Clara Lopez, the city's authorities do not have the capacity to allow the city's approximately 40 thousand bars, clubs and restaurants to keep their doors open full time.

The city does not have the resources to fund the infrastructure and security needed for a 24-hour nightlife, said the Secretary.

To allow only a small number of bars to keep their doors open 24-hours a day needs the approval of Colombia's national Congress, Lopez added.
