Santa Fe manager quits over death treats

Bogota soccer club Santa Fe are once again without a manager. Only a month after starting the job, Uruguayan Ruben Israel resigned following supposed death threats.

Santa Fe chairmen Armando Farfan revealed on Monday that the coach received threats saying that he should select particular players.

"On Sunday he received two phone calls in which he was threatened with his life and those of his family," Farfan explained, adding that the caller was supposedly a member of the 'barras bravas' of Santa Fe, the club's most passionate supporter groups.

Israel had not led Santa Fe in a single official match, although he did perform some training sessions with the 'Cardinals'.

The manager is expected to travel abroad on Monday, after which he will reportedly unveil the names of the players mentioned in the threats.
