Copa Mustang II weekend preview

América de Cali and Independiente de Medellín aim to maintain their lead in the two groups of the Copa Mustang II semi final stage.

The third round of matches begins on Saturday with Deportivo Cali hosting Deportivo Pereira. Cali are currently last with only one point while Pereira's win over Junior allowed them to move into third place.

Cali have good memories from their last match with Pereira, which ended in a impressive 5-0 win four months ago. Montero netted a hat-trick in that game.

Junior will want to overcome last Wednesday's defeat but face a difficult task against in-form América, who haven't lost in six games.

That being said, Junior are favorites for this match as the Barranquilla outfit proved to be the best home team of the season. Just one month ago, América crashed to a 4-3 defeat in Colombia's north.

Medellín held local rivals to a 1-1 draw on Thursday but will want to add another three points at La Equidad in Bogotá, Sunday.

By then it will have been only three weeks ago that these two sides met in Medellín, with Independiente winning 2-1.

Deportes Tolima will have their confidence boosted by Thursday's win over La Equidad, but opponents Atlético Nacional have a mission as they have the somewhat disappointing draw with Medellín to overcome.

Nacional won the two most recent matches with Tolima, the last encounter being only two months ago.
