Colombia hands over map of 'possible' FARC bases to Ecuador

farc whereabouts

Colombia gave Ecuador a map detailing the possible location of FARC camps on Ecuadorean territory. The map contains no concrete information on FARC presence, according to the Ecuadorean Defense Minister.

Minister Javier Ponce said the map contained "outlining the zones where they [the FARC] may possibly be", information already known of by Ecuadorean authorities, El Universo reported Friday.

Ponce was handed the information by Colombian Defense Minister Gabriel Silva during a meeting in Cotacachi, Ecuador. The two officials were there in an attempt to restore diplomatic relations, which were broken by Ecuador on March 3 2008 after the Colombian army bombed a FARC guerrilla encampment on Ecuadorian soil without previously notifying Ecuador's authorities.

Ecuador has asked repeatedly for Colombia to provide evidence of its claims that the FARC has camps on Ecuadorean territory, so they can be dismantled.

To hell with evidence. Colombia cannot overfly Ecuadorean territory. The Ecuadorean military can. Try taking a look, Rafi.
