Senator Piedad Cordoba has announced that not only may Moncayo and Calvo be freed within the month, but that there is hope that all FARC hostages be released before December.
Senator Piedad Cordoba has announced that she is prepared for "the possibility" that Sergeant Pablo Emilio Moncayo, Private Jose Calvo and the remains of Julian E. Guevara are released in twenty days.
"We have told the government that the conditions have been made, and that we need to progress with logistics," the senator said.
According to her, all that is missing is the designation of a guarantor country, and the naming of a Colombian place at which the exchange is to be effectuated. The guarantor country could be Argentina, reports newspaper El Espectador.
Cordoba also made the surprise announcement that all hostages would be released by the end of the year. However, she said, that all depends on the cooperation of the government.
Furthermore, Cordoba said that President Alvaro Uribe "is in favour of the process, because it has allowed contact with [Peace] Commissioner Frank Pearl."
