In 92% of Colombia's municipalities no kidnappings were reported throughout the last year, the national authorities say.

In the latest report issued by Colombian Ministry of Defense agency Fondelibertad, there have been no kidnappings reported in 32 regional capital cities and of the 1,102 municipalities in the country 1,015 have not had any kidnapping cases this last year, stated Colombian media on Monday.

According to the statistics, the departments of Vichada and Bolivar are the only two to have not recorded a single kidnapping since 2002.

However, the situation in the country's capital Bogota, as well as in Medellin, Villavincencio and Yopal, where abductions have been reported, is particularly concerning to the Government for whom urban public security is a primary focus.
