Honduras authorities alleged on Monday that Colombia's biggest illegal group
the FARC has financed supporters of ousted Honduras President
Manuel Zelaya.
Police in Honduras seized a book and receipts that show payments between US$2,500 and $100,000 for officials of the Zelaya government to "spend in El Paraiso", a department on the frontier with Nicaragua where followers of Zelaya wait for the ousted President's return.
Honduras national police officer, Danilo Orellano, said that the payments were delivered by a former parliament candidate of the ruling Liberal Party and son of an official of the Zelaya government.
The origin of the money "... comes from South America, following (information found in) a computer that was seized from a leader of the FARC ... There is a partnership with some people here that lead our country," Orellano told local media.
"There are people who are directly involved [with the FARC] and who receive money from the FARC. I can say this directly," the police officer added.
The case will be transferred to the Public Ministry in Honduras.
