Fourth FARC politics case dropped

Colombia news - Supreme Court

Colombia's Supreme Court dropped a fourth case of someone who had been accused by the government of having ties with the FARC.

Congressman Jaime Dussán (Polo Democratico) had been accused of 'FARC-politics' after his name appeared on one of the computers of Raúl Reyes, the FARC commander who got killed in March 2008 in an attack on his camp in Ecuador.

According to the Court evidence was "absolutely non-existent" of the congressman's alleged friendly ties to the guerrillas.

The FARC-politics cases were opened after the government said files on the computers of the slain guerrilla proved ties. So far, all charges were dropped before the accused appeared before court.

The most prominent suspect is opposition Senator Piedad Cordoba. The investigation against her is still ongoing.
