Prosecution considers arresting judge who ordered release 'El Indio'

Colombia news - Mario Iguaran

Colombia's Prosecutor General considers to issue an arrest warrant for the judge who ordered the release of drug lord 'Don Mario's' alleged right hand man John Freddy 'El Indio' Manco Torres and businessman Juan Felipe Sierra.

The two men are implicated in the corruption case against former Medellin director of prosecution Guillermo Valencia Cossio.

They were set free on 16 June by a Bogota judge because of a failure by the State to indict them in sufficient time.

"It is very clear that the actions of this judge generates doubts [...] he has taken quite a few questionable decisions", PG Mario Iguaran said.

The Prosecutors described the action of the judge as neglecting his duties. Iguaran also said that if he should find any wrongdoing of the judge, he will order the recapture of Juan Felipe Sierra, El Espectador reported Friday.

Mario Iguaran had claimed previously that phone conversations between Valencia Cossio and 'El Indio' were evidence that the former Medellin director of prosecution had ties to drug lord 'Don Mario'.

Sierra is believed to be the link between the two. According to the prosecution, in phone calls from Sierra to 'El Indio', the voice of Valencia Cossio can be heard, W Radio reported.
