US$114 thousand reward for information on Huila attack

Colombia news - Garzon

Colombian authorities offer a 250 million peso (US$114 thousand) reward for the information leading to the guerrillas that attacked a town in the Huila department, killed four members of the security forces and kidnapped a local council member.

Freddy Padilla, recently assigned as Minister of Defense, announced the reward after a security council meeting, announced the reward and said he was sending more troops to the region to improve the security situation.

Meanwhile, local politicians threaten to massively quit their job out of fear for more kidnappings. Interior Minister Fabio valencia Cossio is seeking to convince these councilmen to stay in their position.
