Polo Democratico leader Carlos Gaviria Diaz accepted the request of a group of party members to run for the leftist party's candidacy for the 2010 Presidency Wednesday.
So far, Gaviria is the only member of Polo to officially try to become the party's candidate. Unless other party members decide to run, he will automatically become the party's candidate for the election.
Hours before the announcement, other presidential hopeful Luis Eduardo 'Lucho' Garzon left Polo to try to run for the Presidency independently.
