Ex-paramilitary sentenced to 24 years in prison

Pedro Bonito

A Colombian judge sentenced former paramilitary Raul Emilio Hasbun Mendoza, alias "Pedro Bonito," to 24 years in prison for murdering five farmers, local media reported Tuesday.

The killings occurred on February 19, 2000, when Pedro Bonito and his paramilitary group Arles Hurtado AUC entered the northern Colombian village of San Jose de Apartado and shot five people execution-style.

Pedro Bonito received a half sentence for having made a plea bargain.
