Andean leaders come to Bogota for regional meeting

Leaders of Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador arrived in Bogota on Tuesday to hold a meeting of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN).

Bolivian President Evo Morales and Peruvian President Ollanta Humala said they wanted to "strengthen the CAN" through the reunion in the Colombian capital.

On the other end, Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa insisted on the integration of the CAN with Mercosur, and expressed his discontentment towards the transportation issues at the Ecuador-Colombia border, which could ultimately lead to Ecuador leaving the CAN.

"What is important is for us to keep working day after day for the well-being of our people and the creation of a great Latin American alliance," Correa said.
