Three soldiers in northeast Colombia were killed Tuesday by a land mine that was allegedly laid by left-wing guerrilla group the FARC, reported Univison news.

The accident reportedly took place while the soldiers were undertaking a surveillance mission in the mountainous region of the department of Antioquia, close to the border with the department of Cordoba.

This area is reportedly being affected by an on-going territorial dispute between right-wing paramilitary groups and left-wing guerrillas.

The FARC's 36th Front and criminal gang factions, known as Bacrim, are currently active in the region.
