China gives Colombia $1M military aid

Colombia news - China pact

Colombia's Defense Minister Rodrigo Rivera and his Chinese counterpart General Liang Guanglie met on Monday to expand existing defense and security pacts.

As part of the pact, China agreed to give $1 million worth of aid for the purchase logistics material, and the two countries created a program for military officials from both China and Colombia to receive bilateral military training.

According to Rivera, the pact will lead to more efficiency in Colombia's fight against drug gangs and leftist rebels.

Guanglie said his country hoped the cooperation will help China to focus more on international drug-trafficking, terrorism, and the trafficking of arms and humans.
