Colombia Salsa Congress taking place in Medellin

Colombia's second largest city, Medellin, is hosting the Colombia Salsa Congress for the first time in history.

The event, organized by El Firulete National Ballet, is the setting for the national salsa championships, where couples seek to represent Colombia at the World Championship Salsa in Los Angeles later this year.

According to local newspaper El Colombiano, Medellin's lively salsa scene and vast number of bars, where the tropical music can be heard and danced, made the organization of the prestigious dance event select the capital of Antioquia.
