Colombian superstar Shakira gets an invitation to parade with samba school ''Renascer'' in the world-famous Rio Carnaval next month.
Renascer, whose performance opens the spectacular carnival parades on February 19, also invited the legendary snake-hipped actor John Travolta to join them.
''The invitation is made. Now we have to wait for a gap in their schedules," said Renascer's artistic director, Edson Pereira.
Renascer, a small school which recently entered Rio's elite category, is dedicating this year's parade to a Brazilian artist Romero Britto, a personal friend of Shakire and Travolta, according to Pereira.
One of the theme's of the parade will be ''Art of consumption and the consumption of art'," which will include a dance imitating those in the musical ''Grease,'' which starred Travolta.
