Natalia Navarro Galvis, representing the Bolivar department, was elected Miss Colombia 2009 on Monday following days of parades of the country's most beautiful women in Cartagena.
The 22-year-old Navarro was born in Barranquilla and studies Financial Administration at the International University of Florida in Miami.
The most beautiful woman of Colombia received the crown by Michelle Rouillard, who had represented Colombia at the Miss Universe election earlier this year in the Bahamas.
The election of the country's most beautiful women is one of the most important events in popular Colombian culture. The event had occupied prime time television for days on end.
