The governor of Cauca crowned Annie Violeta Bergonzi as the south-western department's representative at the 2010 Miss Colombia beauty pageant in November.
The 22-year-old Bergonzi has dual French-Colombian citizenship and was born in France to a French father and Colombian mother. She moved to Cauca when she was 7.
Cauca Governor Guillermo Alberto Gonzalez Mosquera personally crowned the beauty pageant winner, who hopes to represent Colombia in the Miss Universe elections to be held in just under a year.
