Colombian aphrodisiac fruit to be used in energy drink

Colombia news - Borojo

The native Colombian fruit known as "borojo" will be cultivated and used as a key ingredient in two new high-energy drinks.

The fruit, which grows in the western Colombian department of Choco, has been found to have many unique properties including high energy and phosphorous content. It is also thought to be a natural aphrodisiac.

Researchers at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin are looking to develop new ways to produce and market the borojo. So far, they have been able to make extra-high-energy coffee and another drink from the fruit.

Gustavo Hincapie, a researcher on the project explained that "after completing trials on the consumption and lifespan of these packaged products we hope to begin marketing and thereby generate a whole chain of products that will benefit the economy of the Choco region."
