Popular Colombian narco-telenovelas such as "El Cartel de los Sapos" will soon be shown on television channels around the world.
Colombian telenovelas enjoy huge popularity with diverse audiences. The narco-novela "El Cartel de los Sapos", based on the life of ex-drugtrafficker Andres Lopez, is currently running in eight countries in South and Central America.
Colombia Para Todos reported that RCN has sold the rights to the popular series in 50 different countries, including the U.S. and Spain.
Spain has also picked up the third season of the series "Sin Tetas no hay Paraiso", which has been adapted for viewers in over 50 countries and translated into nine languages.
Colombian novelas are no stranger to international sucess, the novela "Betty la Fea" was adapted to win the attention of audiences worldwide.
"El Cartel de los Sapos" won the prize for best original script of 2009 at the International Market of AV Material in Cannes, and it is anticipated to become one of the most sucessful novelas in Colombian history.
